The Ten Selves – Gui (Water) People

What impression does your Self give?

Water holds many untold secrets…

We began our ‘Ten Selves’ posts with the first Heavenly Stem of the Chinese Four Pillars (Jia Wood), and we will conclude this section with the subtle Gui people – one of whom is Anthony Bourdain!

Emotion, imagination and deep wisdom drive Gui people. Like every Water Element, they can represent an impression of a calm person. However, complex personality shifts beneath the waves, charged by deep and changeable emotions.

They are symbolized as mist or rain – their nature is unquestionably nourishing as it falls.
Gui people are rarely indifferent, but they might give off an air of distance or come across as being introverted.

Otherwise, they are friendly and can easily attach to others due to their compassionate nature. People feel that they can confide in them because they are good listeners as well as being very protective and supportive in times of need.
